Evaluation Guide

For Church Acoustics
and
Church Sound Systems

The following is an exerpt from the book "Why Are Church Sound Systems & Acoustics So Confusing?"

The following tests will help you understand the performance of the sanctuary, the sound system and the interaction relative to the acoustics of your church or hall. These tests are only meant to show potential weakness which should be followed up with a detailed test to find solutions. Mark your score in the box. At the end of this article, each test is explained. (You may want to print these files direct to your printer. It's about 12 to 15 pages long.)

This guide is in three parts. The first is Church Acoustics and the second part is Church Sound Systems. The third is checking out if you have enough equipment to do the job. You should always test a space with both parts or you will miss a lot of detail. Acoustics and audio overlap in many ways as the tests will demonstrate.

We would like you to try these tests as best you can and report back with email of your results. Let us know if you can think of other tests as well. We are always looking at ways to make the HIS System standard universal. Your contribution would be much appreciated.
